January 2022
Despite the challenge of Omicron, from December 25th 2021 to January 7th 2022 Rosalie and David (Spur Afrika Australia) had the pleasure and privilege to visit the Spur Afrika teams.
After two long years not being able to visit Kenya, it was great to reconnect with 'old' Spur Afrika children and team members in Kibera (Nairobi), and wonderful to see the enthusiasm and passion of the 'new' children, volunteers and team members in Kisumu (rural western Kenya).
Children and families throughout Kenya have faced even more hardships than usual over the past two years. Spur Afrika has risen to the challenge, with individual team members admirably handling the additional responsibility and roles.
It was particularly encouraging to see older children supported by Spur Afrika accompanying and helping the Australian team members understand the lives and plight of younger children living in the informal settlements ('slums').
